Does Prozac Reduce The Effectiveness Of Norethindrone?

Question: Hello Doctor Rynne,
My girlfriend is on Norethindrone for birth control and prozac for depression.
Although she is on the birth control and completely responsible about it I never ejacualte inside her simply because we are not ready to take the risk and twice she had taken Plan B in the past 6 months. Tonight we had an incident and I accidentaly ejacualted inside her.
Does Prozac reduce the effectiveness of Norethindrone?
Also is it safe for her to take another plan B?

No need to take Plan B.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I am Dr. Abraham, OB - GYN, and I would be glad to assist you with your concern.
Prozac does not reduce the efficacy of Norethindrone as a birth control method.
Also, while she is taking birth control regularly, there is no need or added effectiveness of taking Plan B.
SO if she is on birth control and taking it regularly, there is no need for any more precaution.
You are sufficiently protected against pregnancy.
All the best
