Does Victoza Affect Cysts On The Thyroid?
Question: Is there a connection with Victoza and Cysts on the thyroid?
Brief Answer:
VICTOZA
Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern. There is a concern of Victoza causing C-Cell hyperplasia of thyroid which is a pre runner of medullary thyroid carcinoma in animals when used in higher doses. This is only seen in rats when used in very high doses. No cases has been reported in humans.
However, we do not use Victoza in people with history of medullary thyroid cancer or if there is a family history of medullary thyroid cancer.
Otherwise VICTOZA is safe and has not shown to cause cysts in thyroid.
