Does A Bruise On The Ankle Post Injury Need Medical Attention?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Oct 2016
Question: I fell a couple days ago and hit the frame of the bed. The bruise is quite substantial, from just above ankle to 2 inches below knee with an egg size lump. Should I just let it heal on its own or see a doctor. I can put weight on it.

Need some further details regarding..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,

Now, a lump of that size after such a hit actually takes even up to few weeks to heal completely..

First of all, since couple of days already passed by, can you please let me know if there's any significant increase in the size of the bruise compared to the initial occasion ?

Any increase in pain ?

Is there any oozing of blood, any difficulty walking ?

Are you on any blood thinner medications ?

Any other problems ?

Can you please upload/ attach a picture of it so that I can take a closer look at it ?
You can simply upload it at the reports section or even e-mail them to YYYY@YYYY and keep the subject as ATTN:Dr XXXXXXX and I'll receive them..

It's a good sign that you can put weight on it..

Meanwhile you can keep the feet elevated.. just apply ice compression over it three to four times a day.. you can continue Ibuprofen 400 mg three times daily after food for another 2-3 days (as your already taking)..

Please share the picture and those details so that I can guide you more specifically in this regard..

Awaiting..

Take Care
Kind Regards
