default
Posted on Thu, 21 Sep 2017
Question: I just fell off the ladder and hit my head. I'm traveling out of the country in two days. Should I get it checked out before I leave? I have a knot on top of my head...should I go to urgent care to get an xray?

Brief Answer:
Get investigated if symptoms as mentioned present

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Head injury is of concern if associated with severe injury, persistent vomiting, headache, loss of consciousness, seizures, visual loss, hearing loss, bleeding via ear or nose, motor weakness or any sensory loss.
Localized swelling over scalp can occur due to trivial trauma too.
You need to get CT head if above mentioned symptoms present.
In such a case consult a doctor preferable neurosurgeon.
For local swelling and pain take pain killers with serratiopeptidase.

In a nutshell, visit to an emergency / urgent care is essential if symptoms as mentioned above are present.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
