Does A Swollen Area On The Forearm Indicate Liposarcoma?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: I have a swollen area on my right forearm (no pain), that's been present for about two months. My mother was diagnosed with a liposarcoma about age 72, and had fairly radical surgery to remove the growth.from her leg. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow. What are the chances that my swollen area could be the same as my mother's?

Brief Answer:
Its almost impossible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The chanced that liposarcoma is giving only swelling for such a long time is almost zero.
Rapidly growing tumor is what we usually see in case of this disease. If the swelling stays the same, its not a cancerous process.
Most likely its a kind of inflammatory process or problem with blood circulation. But not a sarcoma.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
