Does Aerocort Rotacaps Have Any Side Effects?
rota caps are safe if taken properly.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXX,
Rotacaps are generally safe for long term use, if taken accurately. Aerocort contains Levosalbutamol and beclomethasone.
Levosalbutamol is Short Acting Beta 2 Agonist (SABA) and beclometasone is Inhaled Cortico Steroid(ICS). They are routinely used in asthma.
Long term use of levosalbutamol has following side effects.
1. Tremors
2. Palpitation
3. Insomnia and mood swings.
4. Tolerance.
These all are very rare but can happen with long term use.
Beclomethasone in rotacap form is usually free from side effects.
Both of these are short acting drugs , so you need to take at least 4 times a day. I suggest you to start newer drugs like Long Acting Beta 2 Agonist(LABA) and newer ICS combination. They require only twice daily dosing. Once your frequency is reduced chances of side effects are also reduced.
Some side effects are technique related. Poor technique of rotacaps can leads to
1. Soreness of mouth.
2. Coughing due to particles in pharynx.
3. Change of taste.
4. Fungal infection of mouth.
So proper technique is must to avoid such side effect. Please read the leaflet given with rotacaps carefully and don't forget to rinse mouth after use.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, glad to see you again. Thanks for your query on HCM. If taken properly, rotacaps are safe for long term use. In my practice I observed that not rinsing mouth with water after rotacap use, is the most common mistake. And this is the reason for most of the side effects. So if your technique is proper than it is safe for long term use.
