Does Allergy To Medicine Fade Away With Age?

Question: When I was 7, I found out I was severely allergic to ibuprofen. At the age of 22 is there a chance that I am still allergic? Can this type of allergy fade away?

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Ibuprofen is NSAID (non steroidal Anti inflammatory Drug). It is known to to cause allergic reaction in susceptible individual.
Usually immune system develops fully at the age of 15-16years and allergies which are present in the childhood can fade away in adult life. So patient can become non allergic to drug, to which he/she was initially allergic.
But this is not true for all cases.
Chances of allergy to ibuprofen at present is high in your case.
So better to either substitute the drug or take it under supervision of doctor in the hospital setting.
