Can the conjunctivitis cause blindness not the swab
Brief Answer:
Do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. Gunky eyes at this age with no associated pus discharge or redness is most likely due to blocked nasolacrimal duct.
There is no need for any treatment at present. You may use nasal saline drops only in case the baby has associated blocked nose.
Taking a swab is advisable if bacterial infection is suspected. If present then it can be easily treated by antibiotics.
There is absolutely no reason to worry about blindness secondary to swab, blocked nasolacrimal duct or infection. All these conditions can be easily managed.
Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care

Were you able to see my photo at all? Thanks for the reply
Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I can see the picture. But it's not clear to come to any conclusions. The swab report will definitely help to reach a definitive diagnosis.
