Hi,
Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic!
Usually, we do ultrasound of abdomen or ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis both.
In these two investigations, liver is included. If you are talking about some other test, then please be more specific about the side and write exactly, how your doctor advised or written.

Hi,
Thanks for follow up!
Got it now!
First of all, really sorry for your Dad's ill health. As the CT scan result stated that the lesions in liver were indeterminate, the next plan would be going for little more specific test, that is MRI. MRI can pick such lesions in some cases. Let us wait for it's result.
Take Care!

Brief Answer:
CT can show!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for follow up!
Sorry for delay, it was late night here in India.
CT does show liver metastasis from colon cancer in many cases. However, it might miss in some instances. Actually, according to research CT is the imaging modality of choice to evaluate liver metastases. However, both CT and MR imaging have benefited from rapid technologic advances in evaluating liver mets but MR imaging, in particular, from the advent of new contrast agents is little more useful in some cases. On the other hand, FDG positron emission tomography (PET) is the most sensitive noninvasive imaging modality for the diagnosis of liver metastases.
To get more idea, I think, MRI has also been added in your Dad's case.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have have any clarifications.
