Question: Hi Sir,

Since Last 1.5 months I am suffering with lower back pain.I have seen the Doctor he says its not big issue but xray shows some space issues and he has recommended me
Gabapin 300 -- For 10 days
Gabapin 400 -- For next 10 days thereafter
And
Proxym - XT for 20 days
Dsol 600 -- Once in a week
With Lower Back Excercise

But When I have checked on google I can see some strange views for Gabapin.

Please can you suggest if i should continue or please advise.

Brief Answer:
Gabapin can be avoided.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

Kindly upload your reports so that I am better able to help. A low back pain at your age is more likely to be due to a muscle spasm or minor muscle tear or an industrial back ache. It is less likely to be due to disc related issues or degenerative changes of the spine. The first step is to ensure that you maintain an appropriate posture while working on the computer. Take frequent stretch breaks and drink lots of water. Discontinue using pillow while sleeping straight. Do not lift heavy objects, especially after bending down. Eat a healthy wholesome meal which should satisfy your minerals and proteins requirement.

The most essential and long lasting remedy is exercises. There are certain back strengthening and neck isometric exercises that you must learn from a physiotherapist and perform them at home or work whenever possible. You can also undergo a weeks session of traction at your physiotherapist's clinic.

Last but not least, if its unbearable take medications or muscle relaxant as prescribed. Gabapentin is given for a nerve related pain which is not present in your case. You can avoid taking Gabapentin and get an MRI scan of the back done in case the pain is persistent for proper diagnosis.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
