Question: This is with regards to my mother , 70 years old , who has a history of
CKD , CABG ,
Diabetic Nephropathy amongst the host of complications.
She was hospitalized on 14th for UTI and water retention. She got discharged on 17th March and readmitted on 19th March , as she had no strength to walk . She just slumped and could not take a step further . She has mild Stenosis (2012 trauma) , which was managed via physio sessions earlier. This time round , she was treated for
metabolic encephalopathy ,
hypokalemia and hypercalcimia . Extensive physio therapy was given . She was able to walk with support and got discharged on 29th March. Again on 31st March she had a similar episode to lack of strength in her lower limb , back even to take one step. Had to be admitted on 2nd April . Again involving UTI and
hypoglycemia . As of now everything is stable and under control including her
kidney functions . The treating doctor has redone her LS
MRI , which reveals the same Stenosis and L3,L4 wedge . My query is can this mild stenosis render the patient immobile ? Is Surgery the only solution ? Can phyiotherapy or any alternate route to ensure mobility.
