Question: does a barium sulphate with contrasting die show all the organs of the body, including glands, stomach and colon, and bones?

Brief Answer: Barium is used for gastrointestinal tract imaging Detailed Answer: Hi Dawnhh1.dh, Thanks for writing in to us. Barium sulphate does not show all organs of the body. It only outlines passages through which it passes. Barium sulphate is used in different concentrations to image the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus. Brief Answer: Organs are well seen in MRI scan Detailed Answer: Hi Dawnhh1.dh, Thanks for writing back with an update. MRI scan shows all organs of the concerned region for which scan is taken. For MRI scan we use Gadolinium contrast usually and not barium. Gadolinium is approved for use in MRI scan and shows all organs better than as seen on plain MRI scan.
