Does Psychiatric Illness Cause Fever Due To Stress And Anxiety?

Question: Hi, I have psychosis and bipolar. My medicines are: My present medicines: Lonazep 0.5 mg morning, 1 mg night, sizodon 1 mg morning, sizodon ls at night, clobazam 10 mg at morning, elicia 4 mg at night, modalert 200 mg at morning, cognix plus at morning, bexol dt 2 mg at morning, cetrizine at night, sulphitac 100 mg at night.
I took a complete blood test. My RBC count is high and there are some abnormal values in the heamogram test reports. I had fever 3 times last month and having abnormal triglycerides and c-protein cardiac risk marker. My doctor informed me that since I have fever 3 times, my c-protein is high and asked me to repeat the test after 2 months. For vitamin D deficiency, my doctor has provided vitamin d capsules one tablet per week for 8 weeks. Please review the report and suggest whether any further tests are required and what type of medication you would recommend.
Please revert for any questions.
Thanks and Regards,
XXXX
Brief Answer:
No more test indicated at the moment.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
After going through all your reports I dont think you need any further testing at the moment. The raised factors at the moment can be intermittent and repeat tests for follow up are needed.Only if they are elevated on repeat test you will need further testing.
If C protein remains elevated then cardiac work up can be undertaken.
If RBCs remain elevated than HbA2/HbF estimation can be undertaken.
Apart from this I would not suggest anything more at your age.
Hope this answers your query.Regards.

Hi Doctor,
I got 100 degree fever today. This is the fourth time in the month of March-April that I am getting fever. You have looked into my Thyrocare blood test reports and I have also listed the medicines I am taking.
Does psychiatric illness cause fever due to stress and anxiety or does any of the medicines I am taking have side effects of fever?
Thanks for your reply. Attached is the latest blood investigation report done yesterday for malaria and typhoid.
The RBC Count is high. Could it be due to fever?
Please reply as soon as possible.
Thanks and Regards,
XXXX
Brief Answer:
Latest blood reports are fine.
Detailed Answer:
Fever or infection primarily causes increase in WBC and not RBC.So its unlikely that fever is cause of this.

Hi,
I am still having fever. My General Physician referred me to an Internal Medicine specialist.
The Internal Medicine specialist informed me that over the last three months report, the report was displaying a high RBC Count and the fever kept occurring frequently. He informed me to undergo a bone marrow test because it can be used as a diagnostic tool for fever.
He informed me that the entire bone marrow test process will involve one day admission and two days of observation requiring three days admission at hospital.
When I used google.com to gather information about bone marrow tests, lot of websites mentioned that bone marrow tests are a simple one hour day care procedure after which the patient can be discharged and the patients only need to be admitted if they develop side effects at home and need to be put under observation at the hospital.
Please advice based on your experience whether bone marrow tests are day care one hour procedure or as suggested by my Internal Medicine specialist, whether I need to be admitted in the hospital for three days.
Regards,

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is one hour procedure.
Detailed Answer:
Yes. it is one hour procedure.
Admission is only advised when there are chances of complications or if preparations needed prior to test in particular individual like stopping some medications, giving anxiolytics, maintaining hydration, starting antibiotic cover and also undertake majors to make procedure comfortable for patient.
So a discussion with your doctor can help you understand whether admission would be needed and will it prove helpful to you.
Regards.
