Does Roseola Appear As Discrete Rash?

Question: Does the rash of roseola ever present as discreet red spots, nonpruritic, rather than a confluent rash? My grandson is 9 mos old and had a XXXXXXX temp of 102 five days ago. Rash broke out today. has enlarged erythemetous tonsil with some exudate that tested negative for strep two days ago. only med has been tylenol.
