Does Storing Wellbutrin And Celexa In High Temperature Affect Its Quality?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Jul 2016
Question: I use both liquid Celexa and pill Wellbutrin. I was recently in Florida and for about 20 hours the air conditioning wasn't working. So the indoor temperature was around 81 and there was a medium to high amount of humidity. Do you think this will affect the medicine? Do I need to get it replaced? Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

Fortunately the packing is there to protect both the medicines in humid and hot environment and few hours of the failure do not affect the quality of medicines.

I mean to say that there is no point in replacing medicine when it was under packing. Few hours of exposure to hot and humid environment will not affect it.

Practically speaking I practice in area which is subjected to extreme high temperature (120 degree F) and high humidity and I never encountered any incident of medicine failure due to such environmental factors.

Unfortunately most of my patients come from far flung areas and travel in non air conditioned vehicles before reaching their home and respond adequately to prescribed medicines.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
