Does Uncontrolled Hypertension Lead To Hemorrhagic Stroke?

Question: my mother suffered a hemorr. stroke on 10/21/2015. she is 71 years old/ COPD severe/ remains in coma with no eye movement since the ordeal began/has trach/PEG TUBE/ no clinical name given as to what part of brain/ suspect it might be basal ganglia area/ treating doctor could not operate because too deep in the brain/ draining fluid/blood off brain still. only has reflex movement/ prognosis seems poor at this point/ was told by doc that the bleed was extensive. we are finding out she had hypertension but was not being treated for it. would this most likely be the part of the brain that is affected if hypertension is a factor and what are the chances of coming out of coma? we have been told the part of brain that is badly damaged is responsible for awakening.

Prognosis of inoperable stroke involving the basal ganglia is not very good. Most patients will not have any recovery in terms of cognition, consciousness or orientation. It is important to make sure that she does not develop any bed sores or muscle contracture by doing regular Physiotherapy
Uncontrolled hypertension often leads to hemorrhagic stroke and the other cause is old age.
