Does Vaginal Lubricants Containing Propylene Glycol Cause Epithelial Tissue Damage?
Question: Can ingredients like propylene glycol in some lubricants cause permanent damage to vaginal epithelial tissue? I've found online that it causes burning that I've been experiencing for the last two wks but very worried about long term effects. STDs , BV & yeast have been ruled out. Would you recommend a steroid anti fungal like nystatin cream?
Brief Answer:
No Permanent damage
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns about damage caused by propylene glycol.
Let me reassure you that propylene glycol will not cause permanent damage to vaginal epithelium. This is temporary damage to epithelium and not a permanent damage. Vaginal epithelium regenerates fast.
I dont advice you to use steroid or fungal cream.
There are no long term effects to worry about.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Regards

Follow sitz bath.
