Getting Frequent Neck Pain And Headache. Feeling Drowsy And Numbness. Could It Be Spondylitis?

Question: Hi,

I am getting a neck pain and headache frequently(every 2 days).
Also I am feeling a little drowsy and numbness during that time.

I am working as a software engineer and I sit in front of the system for more than 8 hours.

Could please tell me whether it is a spondylitis?

Thank you for posting your query.

Based on your symptoms, you could be suffering from cervical spondylitis. In this condition, the disc located between two cervical bones bulges put, pressing on the adjacent nerves.

Your current job and lifestyle could be the predisposing factors for the same.

Common symptoms include neck pain, pain or numbness in the arm, occasional tingling or weakness in the arm, etc. Some or all of these symptoms may be present.

There are good treatments available for the same.

Thank you for getting back.

You should consult a specialist, preferably a neurologist.

This is because, a clinical neurological examination is required. Also decision is required to decide whether to go for MRI scan or not.

Then the doctor has to decide what treatment is best for you- medical, physiotherapy, local injections, etc.
