Hard Pea Sized Lump At The Base Of The Skull. What Can This Be?

Hi and welcome to XXXXXXX
Detailed Answer:
The great majority of such lumps are actually benign subcutaneous lesions such as lipomas, ateromas, fibromas or it can be swollen lymph node due to any respiratory or systemic infection. So if there is no growth, pain, redness around it or other signs of inflammation then you dont have to be concerned and no treatment is required. If this is lymph node then it will probbaly disappear in few weeks. If this is some of these subcutaneous lesions then it may persist but it rarely grows more than 1 cm or cause some pain and other difficulties, but such lumps can always be removed under local anasthesia or he can do ultrasound with needle biopsy to verify exact diagnosis.
Very rarely it can indicate some malignant tumor or lymphoma. this is rarity in his age but if there is rapid growth, pain and inflammation, then he needs to visit doctor right away. WIsh you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards
