What Does Ultra Sound With Enlarged Does During Lymphadenitis Suggest?

Hi, my wife had been diagnosed with reactive non-specific cervical lymphadenitis in 2006 and underwent (empirical) anti-TB medication for 9 months. the biopsy report and FNAC did not show any specific baccilli. only the IGG and IGM test had shown low positive for TB. Now after 5 years it seems like the symptoms have reappeared. we have seen an ENT and also the Ultra sound shows enlarged nodes. Biopsy has been advised again. How do we proceed to get conclusive etiology and treatment.

Hello,

It is important to do biopsy of the lymph nodes in order to determine the possible causes. It is also important checking gama Interferon plasma levels for possible active TB. Other tests to consider would be blood test for mononucleosis, PCR, ESR, and a chest CT scan.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
