Has Abdominal Pain, Vomiting, Cold And Sweaty. What Could Be The Cause?

Question: my husband is 77. he has a lot of abdominal pain. he has been vomiting several times this evening. he is extremely cold and sweaty. his temperature is 93.8. i am worried. he says he has no heart-related pain, such as pain in his left arm and has no bad heart history. what should i do?
Dear patient,
The best advise I can give you is for your husband to be evaluated in the Emergency Department promptly; acute abdominal pain in elderly patients can be very serious and have multiple etiologies, from appendicitis, to diverticulitis, to basal pneumonia or a heart attack as you mention. Furthermore, as we age we are more prone to dehydration with vomiting, and if he cannot tolerate oral fluids intravenous fluids could be needed.
Wish you both the best, truly yours,
