Have Bumps On Elbow Under Skin. Having Unusual Color. What Could This Be?
Question: I have 2 small pea size hard bumps on my left elbow under the skin. They do not move and to touch or put pressure on them burns some. I found them when resting my elbow yesterday and felt like I burned it. Then looked in the mirror this morning thinking I scratched it hard or something, and see the pea size bumps under the skin. They have no unusual color.

Hi,
Thanks for sending query.
It seems that you probably have a benign skin lesion or a nevus.
It would be easier for me to give a specific response if you could upload a few pictures of the lesions. You have a feature to upload the images by the right side of this query page. Please utilize it.
In addition, I would like to ask you a few questions, please reply.
Duration of disease?
Any XXXXXXX disease?
Family history of similar disease or other diseases?
Did you consult any doctor?
Did you get any investigations done?
Any history of surgery?
Do not forget to send photographs. Awaiting your response.
Regards.

I have uploaded a picture of the 2 hard bumps on my elbow.
Again, they do not move and do not hurt unless I put pressure on them.
No, I have had no diseases.
No, did not consult doctor yet, as I have no insurance, and that is why I am asking you first.
No surgery in my life but c-section
I am a non-smoker and not a drinker, so my health so far has been good.
I am not over weight and eat a lot of healthy foods. (although I do cheat
with chocolate sometimes, haha)
As you see, there is no color, as they are just hard bumps under my skin on the elbow bone.
Hope this helps,
Thanks you,

Hi,
Thank you for reply.
After seeing your photographs, it seems that you are having xanthoma tuberosum.
There are many types of xanthomas, in your case it is xanthoma tuberosum.
Xanthomas commonly associated with hypercholesterolemia and increased levels of LDL (low density lipoprotein) in type II and type III hyperlipoproteinemia and in secondary hyperlipidaemia. The lesions vary in size and shape from small papules to firm lobulated tumours which are yellow or orange in colour, often with an erythematous halo. Larger lesions may be tender on pressure. Pressure areas such as the knees or elbows are particularly affected.
In your case elbow is affected.
I advise to undergo investigation for lipid profile.
If there is hyperlipidemia, lipid lowering drugs should be taken.
Xanthomas should be removed surgically. H/P examination should be done.
You do not worry; you consult physician and then surgeon for the perfect diagnosis and treatment.
I hope you must be satisfied with my answer.
Wishing you early recovery,
Regards.

Hi,XXXXXX
No, not at all.
It is not XXXXXXX
If you feel embarrassing, then only you go for surgery.
Only you have to do that, you go for blood test for lipid profile at regular interval.
And keep the control of serum cholesterol.
Be happy, best wishes.
