Have Cyst On Thyroid. How To Treat This?
Thank you for posting a query.
Look, a cyst on thyroid is rare. But if present it may be a congenital one or a colloidal cyst or a thyroglossal cyst.
To differentiate these conditions, your daughter has to be examined clinically for the size, shape, position, consistency, mobility, relation with underlying structure, relation with deglutition and many more.
After a thorough clinical examination and ultrasound scan is very necessary followed by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) done from the cyst. Only a FNAC can tell whether the cyst has developed from a thyroid gland itself or is any other thing.
So, tell her to consult with her treating doctor for ordering US guided FNAC.
One more point – these types of cysts are mostly benign. So, right now, you do not have to worry. Just tell your daughter to keep following up with her daughter.
Hope this information suffices. Let me know, if you have any more question.
Regards.
