Question: 48 yo male with family history of heart disease, high cholesterol. Male is 5'8, 200 lbs, very physically active, very high stress job, has high cholesterol, central & obstructive sleep apnea, manages with CPAP. Increased fatigue, not sleeping well at night, extremely tired all the time, naps frequently on weekends & never has before. Recently has had increased sweating night & day, chest pressure all day, last EKG 09/13 was WNL. Nuclear stress test 09/13 was WNL. He has also noticed erection not as strong & decreased stamina. Could this be a heart condition or a result of the sleep apnea?

Brief Answer:
Both need to be addressed

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. As a matter of fact, both factors may be playing a role, but with a normal nuclear stress test, probably blocked arteries IN THE HEART is not the explanation for the symptoms overall; the symptoms are consistent with sleep apnea, and it is important to verfify with your sleep doctor (not the company reps) if your settings are keeping you with good oxygen levels; erectyle dysfunction is a well known consequence of OSA.
