It was a uncontrolled bowel movement
Brief Answer:
Are you conscious when you pass stool...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Bowel movement is normal physiological process. The time you pass stool doesn't concern clinical physicians as long as you are able to voluntarily control stool movements and you are conscious when you pass stool.
If you have a bowel movement involuntarily or you are not conscious and do not remember when you pass stool - they can be abnormal and need evaluation.
- Unable to voluntarily control stool indicates bowel incontinence (due to splincter weakness).
- If you are not conscious and do not remember when you passed stool, it indicates possibility of seizure.
Bowel movement where you are conscious and able to voluntarily control stool is normal.
Hope this helps. Write back for clarifications.
