Is Surgery, Suggested For Burning Anal Rectal Region?

I have had for over two years radiation burn of the anal rectal area. This has also caused fecal incontinence. Whre do I get help from specialists in this area as opposed to colo-rectal and radiologist specialists. What can I do and should I have surgery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the chronic burning anal region can be an anal fissure or other condition of long term inflammation.

You need to be examined by an expert general surgeon on a priority basis for per rectal and sigmoidoscopy examination, on which depends further care and management in terms of surgery or conservative therapy.

Till that time, maintain to have soft bowels with laxative and do Sitz bath regularly for best symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
