How Accurate Is A CAT Scan And Skull X Ray To Show Bump On Scalp?
Question: how accurate is a cat scan and a skull xray to show if a bump on scalp is serious or not?! also if reg blood work that is ordered in the ER came back normal... as far as blood count.. etc. does that rule out any infection esp cancer? since I noticed the bump on the back of my scalp about a month or so ago, I can't stop worrying about it. Neuroloist, Dermatologist & ER Dr. told me it is nothing to worry about... but I know I never had this bump. Touching it too much.. will it cause it to become more sensitive?

After going through your query I concluded that you may be having a benign (non serious) lesion most probably a sebaceous cyst. It is unlikely to be cancer as CT has already been done. It is unlikely to be infection as blood tests are normal. CT, skull x ray and blood tests cannot completely exclude the cancer. You are so much worried I think it will be better for you to get it removed by surgery and send for biopsy which will accurately exclude cancer.You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

thank you! that is what I am going to do. I found a few surgeons I will call. Do women normally have large occipital protuberance bones? incase it is not removable

thank you! one more ? from touching the area, it is bothering me now. is there any home remedy that you know of and or if I cover it up with a bandage to avoid touching it until I see Dr in person? Could a benign lesion cause pressure or is it from me touching it? appreciate your great/direct responses that have put me at ease.
