How Are Small Uterine Polyps Removed?
Question: Are small uterine polyps usually removed in the office? My gyn had me under full anesthesia in the hospital for a polyp smaller than a sesame seed. But I read that little ones, especially if they are singular, can be better done in office. What is the "normal" procedure?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Brief Answer:
anesthesia needed in some situations
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Yes small polyps can be removed in OPD only. But at times the base of polyp (also called as pedicle) is broad, so there are chances of excessive bleeding and pain if done in a conscious patient.
Also she might have taken some endometrial curettings along with it. So if that is the case anaesthesia is important.
So don't keep any reservation in your mind and wait for the histopathology report of the tissue.
Take care
