most likely contusion over the thigh, provide more details, please.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for using HealthcareMagic,
I evaluated your query with the clinical photograph.
* It is contusion over thigh following microscopic tear in the blood vessels under
the skin.
* There are many reasons apart from bumping or trauma for the same, kindly
provide some further inputs of following, please:
1. since Tuesday when you noticed the bruise what are the changes in size,
the color of it
2. history of prolonged exposure to the sun before its appearance
3. history of recent skin bleaching / other treatment over that part
4. any use of systemic drugs as blood thinners, pain killers as ibuprofen, any other
medicines not related to this before its appearance
5. similar or other bruises on the body
6. family history of similar problem, if any
7. your systemic illness as diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol or others
8. if you press it, does it blanch or change, if any
9. any bleeding from another body site as nose, gums
10.skin texture - thin / average
11.itching / pain over that area
12.any another systemic issue as fever, weight alteration or appetite disturbance
13.any other information you would like to share with me
14.history of smoking/alcohol
Awaiting your details

I have no memory of brushing myself. Since Tuesday it appears to remain constant in color and size. It is not painful to touch. No prolonged sun exposure. No skin bleaching. I take occasional Aleeve for arthritis pain of knee. I take Amlodipine for hypertension. I am working on lowering my BMI, cholesterol, and A1c, through healthy eating, walking and swimming. I have recently lost about 5lbs. Mostly water weight. This is the only bruise I have noticed on my body. I do not smoke. I have an occasional glass of wine. No family history of similar conditions. No bleeding any where else on my body. I have had elevated red blood cell production in the past. Saw hematologist and he did not believe I had polycythemia Vera. This was over 15 years ago. It's concluded it's my normal CBC.
Also it does not blanch or change color when touching.
Do not consume Aleve, get some basic laboratory workups done.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear
Thanks for all the details.
* So it is broken capillaries below the skin ( to be evaluated )
takes around 2 - 3 weeks for self-resolution through the way of systemic
absorption
* Aleve intake is a suspicious molecule for your bruise as it has documented
the side-effect of easy bruising through naproxen
* My suggestions at this point
- avoid naproxen temporarily till bruise recovers fully
- apply ice ( covered with thin handkerchief) over it 3-4 times/day each for
period of 5 minutes
- thrombophobe (Heparin benzyl nicotinate) topical ointment application of
thin layer 3 times a day can help faster resolution of the bruise
- get a fresh laboratory test in form of complete blood counts with bleeding
parameters as bleeding time, clotting time & prothrombin time done
- keep the part clean & dry
- Relax, it will be resolving but will take some time
Hope this will help you definitely.
Welcome for any further assistance.
Thanks for keeping trust in our medical services.
Wishing you fine recovery from the same.
Regards dear
Take care.
