Question: Hi,

This is regarding Chalazion. My wife is having Chalazion in her left eye from past 4 Months and is left untreated due to pregnancy. We have shown it to the doctor and he mentioned that it can be left untreated till the delivery of baby in September. He mentioned that she can apply Hot Compress and app a medicine - Maxitrol Category C Drug to it after consultation with her gynecologist.
Request for your advice on the next steps if this can be cured by Hot Compress or she needs to apply Maxitrol. Also, if it is safe to apply this medicine while pregnant.

Thanks & Regards,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Chalazion

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
You have been advised correctly to go ahead with ointment and hot compressed. As she is nearing the completion of third trimester, the medicine will not cause any problem and by using this you increase the chances of recovery without surgery. As the chalazion is big so it looks cosmetically undesirable.
Give it a chance and see how she responds.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Hello Doctor,

Thanks for the advice.
Little confused with the statement "As the chalazion is big so it looks cosmetically undesirable." Do we mean that nobody wants this big Chalazion or are we saying it can a risk if this doesn't get cured?

Thanks & Regards,
