Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: I fell and hit the edge of a concrete boat dock. I had a really bad bruise for over 4 weeks. I have a knot left from the bruise. My MD tried opening it to drain it so it would go away. That did not work. Should I go to a plastic surgeon or do I have to live with a lump on my backside

Brief Answer:
Consult a plastic surgeon or even a general surgeon...

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking Healthcaremagic.

I am Dr.Endri Katro and I will be answering at your questions.

To be able to tell if the knot/lump need to eb drained,it needs to do a visual inspecion first and than a physical inspection.

An ultrasound of the soft tissue would help to determine the nature of the lump.

The choise is up to you. If you want, you can consult a surgeon and remove the lump.

Or you can live with it without any problem. But we need to know what this lump is. The surgeon will be able to tell you what this lump is. It might be a sebaceous cyst,a lipoma (fat accumulation) ect or just an abscess that need to be drained.

If you have any other question, don't hesitate to contact me.

Wish you good health
