How Can Bruised Ribs Be Treated?
rest, warm compress, anti inflammatory pain medication
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
In the past, the chest was wrapped with bandages as part of the management but this is no longer recommended.
If the bruising is severe and there is associated shortness of breath or difficulty coughing to clear secretions or if there is a previous history of lung disease , then hospital treatment may be needed.
If it is not severe then treatment includes: (1) anti inflammatory pain medication if you are allowed to use them eg naproxen, ibuprofen, cataflam or voltaren
Should be used on a full stomach
(2) a warm compress to the area , 2 to 3 times daily for 15 to 20 minutes, may also help as well
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
