How Can Hypertension Symptoms Be Recognised?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome on HCM!
Regarding your concern and considering your age i would explain that a high blood pressure value where anti-hypertensive treatment should be considered is a systolic blood pressure >160 mmHg.
Not rarely also a systolic blood pressure of 140 - 159 mmHg may be treated id the therapy is well tolerated.
From the other side, a systolic blood pressure of less than 100 mmHg should be avoided. It may not be well tolerated at your age.
In order to provide a more realistic conclusion on your blood pressure values trends it is necessary to closely monitor your blood pressure values for a couple of days up to a week (several times daily) and then let them review by your attending doctor.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further questions do not hesitate to ask me again.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
You are right! Your recent blood pressure values seem to have extremely low values.
So, it is necessary to review again your actual anti-hypertensive therapy.
I recommend stopping the daily 20 mg of Atenolol and checking your blood pressure for a couple of days.
After that the decision to continue any anti-hypertensives or no will be judged considering those measured BP values.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Your blood pressure values seem to be OK now.
You should known that pravastatin is a drug used to lower your cholesterol levels. It does not have any effects on your blood pressure values.
So, I would recommend you to check your cholesterol levels (considering the fact that you have lost a lot of pounds lately). If your cholesterol levels are low, you should discuss with your doctor on the possibility of lowering pravastatin dose, or even stopping it.
Regarding your blood pressure values, I should say that they are within the normal ranges. But you are taking a really low dose of atenolol. Besides atenolol acts mainly on your heart rate and does not have a visible effect on your blood pressure values.
So, If your heart rate is within the normal ranges or even low, I would not recommend taking it. You should also know that this drug can lower your physical performance, because this is a known adverse effect of all beta-blockers.
So, I would not recommend taking it if not necessary.
Hope to have been helpful!
Wishing all the best,
Dr. Iliri
