How Do I Take Care Of The Stitches Post Vaginal Delivery?
Question: Gave birth on 5/30/2016. Prior to giving birth, I was given an epidural and the surgeon made an incision in the vaginal area. I am in pain in that area and the stiches are not healing. How do I take care of the stiches.
Brief Answer:
possible wound infection..get examined soon.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
If there is pain even after 7 days of vaginal delivery then there are chances that you may have contracted a wound infection and hence there is no healing. This calls for a check up of the episiotomy wound to look for any pus discharge from the sutures. IDEALLY after episotomy, the daily care involves cleaning the episiotomy young with BETADINE WASHES thrice a day for next 7 days and also be on antibiotics like tab cefexime 200mg twice a day for 7 days to prevent any infection. Nevertheless i feel you should visit your obstetrician now for a local examination and rule out infection.
