default
Posted on Thu, 2 Apr 2015
Question: hi i was proscribed a new anti biotic for my chest infection. The doctor said take 2 lots of 2 tablets twice a day. I have taken one lot of 2 tablets yesterday at 1pm....1 hour after I got my prescription and then 2 more at 9pm - 9 hours later. Today I took the first lot at 7am...and the second lot 9- 10 hours later at 3pm. Am I doing the right thing or should I be spacing them 9 hours until they are finished ?. Tomorrow I was going to repeat todays routine and take them at 7am and 3pm.

Brief Answer:
Please tell me the name of antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
It seems very complicated when you are referring with lot 1 and 2.
You also mentioned only cephalosporin antibiotic. Which is the other lot of antibiotic?
So please reply me names of antibiotic with their duration(timing) so that I can tell you, whether you are taking them correctly or not.
These will be needed to avoid confusion.
Hope you will understand this and I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

there is only one anti biotic - Cephalosporin no other
I referred to lots as in 2 tablets at a time etc. maximum 4 a day
I have 4 left for tomorrow and have been spacing them
8 hours - day 1
9 hours - day 2
so what do i do now...get up at 4am to carry on with the 9 hour spacing
or can I wait 15 hours until later on in the morning to take the next one...?
with the last one 9 - 10 hours later

No need to take at 4 am.
Take at morning 8 am and night 8 pm.
Cephalosporin should be taken twice daily , 10-12 hours apart.

Brief Answer:
Please tell me the exact name of cephalosporin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your situation.
It is ok, no need to worry much for this.
In cephalosporin group cefixime, cefpodoxime, cefuroxime etc are available.
But different cephalosporins have slightly different pharmacological properties.
So please let me know the exact name of cephalosporin.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
