How Is Prednisone Effective In Treating Respiratory Virus?

Question: I am taking Prednisone for my respiratory virus. How does this help?
Brief Answer:
This is not used for viral infections
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Prednisone is not used for simple respiratory viral infections so you should ask your doctor about exact reason for it. It can be used for breathing difficulties caused by allergic reactions,or excessive cough which causes choking, but I think that these usual measures are sufficient for viral infection treatment, and don't see that prednisone is required. Wish you good health. Regards
