Posted on Mon, 3 Apr 2017
Question: Sir, I had a street dog bite on my left leg on 20/02/2017. Same day I had taken anti rabies vaccination on both arms of 0.1ml intra demally. The second dose was given on 23/2/2017 WITH Same dose intra dermally. The third dose was given on 27/2/2017, but it was sub cutaneously on left arm only. The last dose will be on 20/03/2017. That is doctor has suggested only four dose. My doubt whether the intra dermally and sub cutaneous will have different treatment methods or the dosages are different. Please let me know if I should take more shots or any suggestions on this

Brief Answer:
Take 5 shots

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Welcome to HealthcareMagic.
I am Dr Anshul Varshney for your help.

Rabies vaccination can be given intradermally or subcutaneously. It has the same effect.
However the recommended doses are 5 doses, that too on day 0,3,7,14,28.
So, you should complete these 5 doses of vaccine and not four.

I hope it helps you.
