Typically, ECT is given two to three times a week for a total of six to 12
sessions as a treatment.

Maintenance electroconvulsive therapy is indicated to relapsing depression, patients receive maintenance ECT weekly for one month, every other week for two months, then monthly for three months.

The frequency and duration of maintenance ECT are adjusted according to the clinical course.
