Hi and thanks for contacting HCM
Hepatitis A virus is a faeco-orally spread virus and is very rarely transmitted in a man to man sexual contact. It is usually infective for around 15 days before the onset of jaundice and for a week after. Transmission via kissing is extremly rare.
Active viral hepatitis is associated with lot of muscle pains and non specific joint pains. It usually settles as the hepatitis resolves and paracetamol can be used for symptomatic relief
Now a days we advocate a high calorie high protein diet during an attack of hepatitis and fried foods are no longer banned. Good nutritious food helps in early recovery and reduces the fatigue. Aloe vera juice may be consumed in moderation and allopathy doesn't have any recomendation regading the dose. Extreme exertion should be avoided for at least a month after an attack of hepatitis
Contracted gall bladder on an ultrasound usually means a fed state or an inflammed non functional gallbladder. Try getting one ultrasound on a fasting state.
The lipid profile suggests a low HDL - the good cholestrol. After recovery exercise to build it up.
With the given information there is no evidence of pancreatic cancer

Hi,
Eat healthy and hygeinic food and avoid over exertion to avoid relapse. Hepatic inflammation itself can cause fever, fatigue and weakness. You should be able to gain weight as you recover and with a balanced diet
Ideal condition for GB imaging is in a overnight fasting state and there are no specific signs of GB dysfunction other than right upper quadrant discomfort
Low HDL increases the risk of heart disease; hence exercise to raise it. HAV doesnot cause any lasting damage and does not lead to cancer

Recently my doctor asked me to get my B12 and D3 levels checked and the results were 171 and 30.4 respectively. what is the reason behind this deficiency? Is it because of the virus or anything else because i read that it took as long as 20 years to develop B12 deficiency . I drink milk everyday and also eat eggs frequently.
Does this deficiency cause weight loss ? I am having difficulty in gaining wait even if i am taking more food than i ever used to eat and my muscles have become loose. I used to exercise on daily basis. what should i do to make my muscles strong and get healthy?
And one ulcer has developed in my mouth. i think it is apthous. it is white with inflammed area around it . how much time will it take to heal. its been a week and its still painful and have already taken two of 8 prescribed B12 injections. could there be something wrong? what should i do for rapid healing?
when can i start my cricket classes ? its been too long and i want to get back to my cricket.
these days my stools are not that much solid. not watery but not very solid. why?
Does this virus leave any traces in the liver?

Hi,
Vit B12 defeciency in a person taking egg usually indicates a problem in absorption. HAV has nothing to do with vit B12 defeciency. Hence discuss with the doctor who ordered the tests about the possible causes in you ( after examination) and the further diagnostic tests like colonoscopy and gastroscopy.
Aphthous ulcers can be caused by a number of causes including Vit B12 defeciency. Hence let your doctor do a thorough review of the history and examination to determine the cause.
Vit D3 defeciency is quite common in Indians and take supplementation as prescribed
Vit B12 defeciency can cause loose stools, fatigue and weight loss as ia an episode of hepatitis A.
After recovery you should be able to recover some muscle mass. Stool consistency should also improve as you recover
Hepatitis A usually does not cause permanent damage and you can start playing sports after about 4-6 weeks after recovery.
