How Long After Ingesting Oxycodone Will It Show Up On Urinalysis?
Question: How long after ingesting oxycodone will it show up on a urinalysis through a lab....and can urinalysis through a lab be used to determine accurate timetable of when a oxycodone was taken to fire employee on grounds of takin drug to close to comming into work
Brief Answer:
2 to 4 days. No.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic!
Oxycodone can be detected in urine for 2 to 4 days but it is not possible to accurately determine the time when it was ingested. Individual differences in hepatic and renal function, dosage interval, dosage strength etc are the factors that make the interpretation of urine detection time difficult.
In my opinion, your employers will only be able to conclude that the drug was taken within 2 to 4 days of the lab test. They will not be able to find the exact time simply on the basis of a urine test.
Hope this answers your query. Please feel free to ask if you need any clarifications.

Im sorry maybe I didnt put that first question correctly....how long after ingestion of oxcodone will it reach the urine
Brief Answer:
Not before two days.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
After ingestion of oxycodone, it can first be detected in urine only after 2 days and usually remains in urine till 4 days after ingestion. So if a test is conducted within two days or after four days of ingestion, there is a strong possibility that it will fail to detect the presence of oxycodone. However, this range is not absolute as it depends on factors like liver and kidney function, which vary from person to person.

not to insult your knowledge on this subject...but if it took two days or close to two days to reach your urine why would the half life only be 4.5 hours isnt the half life the time it takes for half the pill to leave your body
Brief Answer:
Explained below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes, you are right that the half life is only 4.5 hours. This simply means that in 4.5 hours, around half of the drug is removed from the plasma. But this doesn't mean that the drug reaches the urine. Some of the drug attaches to the tissues of the body from where it is released gradually over the next few hours and some is taken up by the liver to be converted to water soluble compounds that can be excreted in the urine. This takes some more time. Although about 33 to 61% of oxycodone is excreted in the urine within 24 hours of ingestion, the amount needs to be high enough to be detected by the urine test. So in the period between 24 to 48 hours, you will need a high dose, fast metabolism and bad luck to get caught!
