How Long Do Solian Withdrawal Symptoms Last?

default
Posted on Wed, 25 May 2016
Question: Hi,
I've been already 10 days without Solian (amisulpride). Some days it seems that my problems with Solian are gone, during some hours (a kind of "fixation" with open windows of cars), sometimes i feel like in the past, so i would like to know if Solian withdrawal can take more than 10 days or if it's 10 days after the first 5 days (when it was clear at day 5 that the med was going out of the system). What i mean is that maybe dopamine receptors take more time to reset, please inform me. I would like to remember that my psychiatrist told me here three weeks/one month to Solian withdrawal.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and thanks for your question.

I'm not convinced what you are describing at this time is actually Solian withdrawal. "Fixation" with open windows of cars speaks to a low-level obsessive paranoia, which Solian may have worsened to some degree, but is likely not the root cause. You may want to consider increasing Sulpiride to help this fully resolve. To clarify, in my earlier answer, I suggested that it may take an additional 10 days or so AFTER the 5 days it took for Solian to leave your system. After this time true withdrawal would become less and less likely. I hope this is helpful to you.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer, i never had in my life obessive paranoia (but Solian in low dosage, 300 mg for example, can cause obsessive reactions), so: ¿some other med can cause this? As far as i understand, Solian can be involved. I have to say that i've been on Solian for some 10 years and the problem appeared at Solian 200 mg and Solian 100mg, since there was no problem at Solian 400 mg. At Solian 200 mg it's WORSE than at Solian 100 mg. So i understand that Solian withdrawal can take at least 15 days.

Detailed Answer:
You are describing worrying about open windows of cars -- this is best characterized as paranoia, which can be caused by an abundance of Dopamine in the brain. I think your use of Solian at low doses may be contributing. It may taken at least a couple weeks off this medication to see how your new regimen works for you in terms of making this symptoms go away.

There is no exact answer to exactly how long it will take, but roughly 2 weeks is a good estimate based on an average of a variety of patient experiences.
