Question: If you have taken a colon prep liquid to relieve a blockage how long should it take to work after drinking ounes.

It may take 6-8 hours.

Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
You seem to be having Sub Acute Intestinal Obstruction as per your description.
Any laxative like the Colon preparation liquid takes at least 6-8 hours to show it's effect.
Take it in the dosage as advised by your doctor and wait till coming morning. Dosage vary from brand to brand so take it in the advised dosage.
Hopefully you would pass liquid stools after 6-8 hours.
If it doesn't work, you may require to see your doctor again to increase the dosage.

Thank you. He is an inmate in Kansas and they do not have a doctor. Sometimes family has to make them aware that the family knows and then they take action. So if he has no results by in the morning there is s place I can call to speed things up. Is time a factor. If they delay getting the blockage too long could it not be dangerous?
