How Long Does A Sprain In The Ankles Take To Heal?
My right ankle has sprained due to bike skidding. Doctor said there is no evidence of bone fracture by looking at X ray but I can't put my weight on foot. Doctor wrapped my ankle with cotton crepe bandage. He has prescribed Opdol tablet and Power vit capsules.
Absolute rest to then ankle is needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A sprain in the ankle can be associated with torn ligaments. If there is pain on weight bearing and there is a swelling around the ankle then you need to avoid any weight bearing on the foot and avoid any movement of the ankle joint. To maintain the joint in neutral position it is best to get a cast applied for at least 2 weeks so that ankle can get proper rest needed for healing.
Any movement of the ankle and weight bearing will delay the healing. Keep the foot elevated on two pillows and continue with the pain killer as advised by your orthopedician.
I hope this answers your query.
