How Long Does Chickenpox Take To Heal?

Oral antivirals should be started; should resolve in 7-10 days on treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I have taken note of your query.
Chicken pox is caused by Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV).
In adults, there is a higher risk of systemic complications from this virus e.g meningitis, hepatitis, nephritis etc as compared to children, therefore it is always better to treat adult chicken pox with Oral Antivirals.
If I was the treating doctor I would have started you on Oral antivirals e.g Acyclovir Or Valacyclovir.
I normally continue Antivirals for a week in my patients of chicken pox.
On antivirals, skin lesions usually scab up in about 7-10 days.
Without treatment skin lesions may persist longer i.e 2 weeks or more.
I suggest that you visit a specialist dermatologist in your region for the needful.
Regards
