Brief Answer:
6 weeks for complete resolution.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow up. After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:
1. Normally, the collapsed lung should expand in 48 hours if there is no underlying lung disease i.e cases of primary spontaneous pneumothorax. The lung reexpansion can be confirmed by repeat chest Xray. How are the findings on your fresh chest Xray?
2. After that it is advisable to avoid exertional work, flight, etc. for a period of 6 weeks. You should be symptomatically free by the period of 6 weeks.
3. The cause of collapse needs to be known. Are you a smoker? Any previous lung disease?
4 Thus you should be completely OK by 6 weeks.
I hope I have answered your query. I will be glad to answer follow up queries if any. Please accept my answer if you have no follow up queries.
