Brief Answer:
Medication effect should be over in maximum 24 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the details of your mother. Most medications used for inducing coma have effects even after they are stopped, however, by and large, the effects are over in maximum about 24 hours. So, we expect her to wake up after that. In some older people, mild drowsiness may remain for a few days.

If in doubt, an EEG (electroencephalography) can be done to clarify her neurological status (sleep stage, presence of any seizures, any coma, etc).

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
