How Long Does It Take To Develop Liver Cirrhosis?
Question: How long does it take to develop Liver Cirrhosis. Until May my liver enzymes were normal. However I started to feel fatigue, insomnia, nausea and loss of appetite. when i visited my doctor she asked me to do CT and blood tests. Blood tests are normal however showing higher SGPT and Ceriatinine. CT scan impression that there is a cirrhotic liver with mild ascites. I need to understand how the cirrhosis was found though I had CT and PET in NOV and showed nothing. Also how can I know how serious it is and if it can be cured.
Brief Answer:
cirrhosis does not usually develop that quickly
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am sorry that this has happened to you. Cirrhosis usually develops over years. If you had some sort of acute infection I suppose it is possible to develop cirrhosis over 6 months but this is not usually how it happens. I suggest that you see a gastroenterologist that specializes in liver disease. You will need a liver biopsy to determine exactly what is going on. Once they have the results of the liver biopsy they will be able to tell you if it is cirrhosis, what is causing the liver problems and how treatable it is. The liver biopsy is the best way to get you the information that you need.

C reactive Protein is positive. Will that be related to the above. Also his blood CBC is perfectly normal.
Brief Answer:
liver damage
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The C reactive protein is a nonspecific marker of inflammation so yes if the liver is inflamed then that could be the cause of the elevation. The CBC being normal is good but it could be normal even in severe liver disease.
