Question: Hi Doctor,
I just wonder about my pregnancy because it is my first time and precious one since I had few failed IVF and miscarriages. I had 2 FET but it were slow growth embryos but I got Hcg 89 on my day-17. Today I went to my Obgyn because yesterday I had mild cramp but she saw nothing particular to worried about. The uterus size is doubling and the lining is thickening. But she hasn't seen anything in my uterus. My question is why we can not see the embryo/embryos yet at this time ? I'll only do my Hcg again next week. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
This is a normal variation.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The embryo and a gestational sac is sometimes late to be visualized in the uterus. In some cases the sac appears at nearly 5 weeks since last menstrual period and 3 weeks after the embryo transplant.
The gradual thickening of the endoetrium and presence of a corpus luteal cyst in the ovary is also suggestive of pregnancy.
You can also check your serum HCG levels and doubling of these levels in 48-72 hours suggests a viable pregnancy.
Do get a repeat TVS scan done after a week to check the progress.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX
Thank you for your answer.. my Obgyn only used TAU. I readed a lot that some could even see the sac on 4 weeks pregnancy. But my embryos were only about two cells when it was implanted. Is it possible that the embryos late implanting ? My next Hcg will be on 27/03..Sorry I meant two cells on day of FET
Brief Answer:
2 cell stage transplantation does not cause delay

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
With Trans abdominal probe (TAU) an early pregnancy may not be detected. It is best to go for a TVS scan after a week.
Even if the embryos are implanted at a two celled stage it is not likely to be associated with a late implantation. Repeat HCG levels will help in confirmation of diagnosis.
Hope my answer is helpful.
