How Long Does Recovery Take From A Knee Concussion?
Question: About 2 weeks ago I fell and landed on my bent knee and even with me walking around on it immediately afterwards with in am hour my knee was stiff and had very little range of movement. it took about 3 days of walking and swimming to get full range of motion back it was mostly pain free. As of today though I can walk mostly pain free (2 out of 10) but going upstairs is a 5 out of 10 and coming down is a 8 out if ten. if I sleep with it bent it will have a stinging sensation on the lateral side for hours after I get up and then it will become stiff again until I ice it for a while which sometimes helps . What do you recommend?
Brief Answer:
May need 4-6 weeks to fully recover
Detailed Answer:
Dear Patient,
a knee concussion may need 4-6 weeks to fully recover, best is to not put too much of sports/ activity on it. If this does not get better completely within this time range, your gp or orthopedic may examine the knee and decide if x ray or mri is necessary to rule out cartilage or bone damage.
Best regards
