How Long Does Recovery Take From Torn Muscles?
Question: I am a 52 year old male, and in very good physical condition. I pulled or tore my left forearm
muscle 13 days ago. I have full movement in my hand and wrist, reduced strength in pulling
movements (e.g. barbell curl, pull ups). Strength in pushing movements such as, pushups,
bench press is very good. I experienced immediate swelling, followed by bruising from elbow
to wrist. Bruising has subsided but intermittent swelling persists. I do have a slight bump
on the upper inside forearm muscle area, in line with my thumb, just below elbow area. How
long should I expect to recover?

Brief Answer:
Around 2-3 months usually, depending on extent of injury
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Recovery time usually depends on the extent of your injury, but if sufficient amount of rest is allowed along with the RICE protocol (rest, ice application, compression, and elevation) then complete recovery should be expected anywhere between 2-3 months.
I hope this helps clear your doubts. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
